There is always plenty to do whatever the time of year. Here are just a few things we've enjoyed depending on the season.

Summer

Pack up a picnic. Fill the handy Ikea bags with heaps of beach stuff. Find a sunny spot on the beach. Take a refreshing swim. Fly a kite. Build a massive sand castle or how about a jet boat?

Sit out on the balcony watching the smoldering sunsets and then enjoy the glorious starry skies.

Take a trip to the Farne Islands to see the nesting sea birds. Pick up fish and chips on the way home.

Enjoy the sheltered garden downstairs with a BBQ.

Explore Bamburgh Castle - consider leaving the little ones in the dungeon! Watch out for the Laidly Worm.

Wander 20 minutes down the road into Bamburgh for a night out at the Mizen Head, Castle Inn, Lord Crewe, Blacketts or the Victoria Hotel.

Keep an eye out for house martins nesting in the cottage eves.

Autumn

Enjoy the even redder skies and crisp clear air.

Watch the turbulent seas and migrating birds from the comfort of your sofa.

Experience the rural life - watch the farmers gather in their crops. But be warned......you might get a bit of a fright from late-night harvesting!  One evening it felt like a UFO was landing outside. Once we realised we were not being invaded, it was very interesting to watch the massive combine harvester loading the trucks. Quite a skill!

Pop a bit further afield to one of the local gastro pubs... Joiners Arms, Apple Inn, White Swan.

Winter

Koru is a lovely place to stay even in bad weather and chilly winters. A place to keep warm and watch the world go by.

Curl up around the gas log fire with a glass of something warm. Read your favorite novel (one from our stash perhaps), cook a glorious dinner to eat by candle light or watch your favorite movies or missed TV shows.

Blow off the cobwebs and wander along the gorgeous Bamburgh beach – wonderful when there’s no one else around!

Wrap up warm and wander down the road to one of the cozy Bamburgh Pubs. High visibility jackets and torches are in the cottage for your return trip.

Spring

Watch the new lambs bouncing in the fields and see the first shoots of early crops. Keep an eye out for birds arriving early at the Farne Islands.

Go for a walk in frosty, crisp morning air and then find a sheltered spot in the dunes on the beach. Relax later and watch your favorite film (one of ours or one of yours - if you have Netflix!) or warm up in one of the local pubs.
