Not sure what else to say about Bamburgh beach except it is absolutely stunning, even on a rainy, cold and windy day!

Relax in the sunshine, explore rock pools or build monumental sand castles to rival Bamburgh's own. The back drop of Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands and the crashing waves rolling in from the North Sea, never fails to amaze. It is even possible to swim - if you don't mind that initial, toe-curling chill!

During busy times we've found the best place to park is down towards Bamburgh golf course (along The Wynding). After the left turn in the road there are two car parks on the right hand side. If you have young children who wake early, head out and enjoy easy parking, locate a premium spot on the beach and relish the quiet time before other holiday makers arrive.

There are boogie boards, buckets, spades, balls and other beach equipment available at the cottage, but please note that all equipment is used at your own risk and we would be grateful if you could return it in the same condition. Don't forget, there's also a picnic set and some rugs if you fancy staying for the day.

The nearest public toilets are back into Bamburgh opposite the Victoria Hotel.

For the perfect photo opportunity, head down during sunset or sunrise - never does the castle look so majestic!
